Off to the Texas Roadhouse for an Armadillo burger

So Anne has been with us for a few days now and this weekend hubster suggested a day out to the mermaids at Weeki Wachee.

I was shocked by the semi naked mermaids in the park and felt the need to stand until the park closed and cover the poor woman...

It was my duty to protect the mermaids modesty
Anne & Hubbie went and watched the mermaid show....I'll let you read about the mermaids over at Anne's blog, The Day After Yesterday, but we thought we'd make her buy us dinner for taking her.. we're nice hosts like that!

Anne had heard that she might be able to get some Armadillo if we went to the Texas Roadhouse so we rolled in looking for a table. She was a little miss-informed, she'd have to be at a roadhouse in Texas if she wanted to get her hands on some Armadillo tacos, so we had to settle for cheeseburgers and some $1.99 Margaritas.. (it was happy hour after all!)
Just one for me...

And it's a good job she didn't get her Armadillo......

Some of you may remember that this month I mourned the loss of Fred and Andy, the dead Armadillos. Very sadly these sweet little animals get attacked by dogs, coyotes and men with guns around here...

In Texas & Louisiana...... well they are dinner.

Search Google for Armadillo recipes and you will find Armadillo meatballs, Bar-B-Q and tasty Tacos!! (interested .. you wont be once you've read the rest of the blog)

Every year, about 150 Americans are diagnosed with leprosy, a disease that disfigures the skin and affects the nervous system. Two-thirds of these people pick it up while traveling overseas, but the source of the remaining third has long been a mystery.

Where did these patients, most of them from Texas and Louisiana, catch leprosy?

Well, you don't need a science degree to know what my next sentence is going to be..

It's from eating ARMADILLOS

15% of all armadillos are infected....

hmmm.. that's 15% chance that you are going to end up with something that looks like this after scoffing your tasty armadillo taco..

So if these are your uncles / fathers / brothers.. please warn them. Armadillo is not the new beef.. there's no inoculation for it..so don't do it!!!
Someones relatives... please have a heart and warn them!

I've warned Anne off the Armadillo for now, but goodness knows what will happen if she visits her blogging friends in Texas!

Welcome to my world.. flora, fauna and dead armadillos

Thought you'd like to steal a little piece of me..so I thought I'd take you for a walk yesterday with Gary.. I drew some strange looks taking pictures of weeds and dead patches of grass on our walking route and not finding too much too exciting I took some pictures of my flowers.. it seems that around me I just see the same weed all the time and some green grass and blue skies.. not that exciting... until you see a dead armadillo.. and I saw two yesterday whoohooo.. I called them Fred and Andy... Fred was very shook up..like in pieces... and Andy was all shell, his innards having been ripped away.. poor Fred and Andy.. although a big hawk was enjoying the last bits of Fred when we walked up and scared the crap out of me when it flew directly up into my path!

Enjoy..

It's Gary Friday....

Thought it was about time that Gary had a featured roll on the blog... I mean it is supposed to be about him! We can return to London later....

Beautiful in Central Florida today... blue skies and t-shirt warm.. (weekend will be bikini warm..I can't wait!)
Anyway a walk down to the lake was in order... and Gary wanted to show off his new $57 haircut to you...

Notice at this point Gary is on his lead....(leash)... well we have been practicing walking without being on the lead and he's been doing really well... but normally goes a bit crazy when you first take him off!

So off we go.. across the land at the back of house towards the lake...

Smelling everything... taking in the sun
And then Gary finds whats left of an Armadillo... not much as it happens....

And worse .. he starts smelling something that looks suspiciously like pooh....
 GARY NO....!!!!!
I turn around and Gary is rolling in aforementioned POOH... guess it wasn't dog then!

SOOOO glad I spent the $ to have you washed yesterday you dirty dog. (you're not Naughty George you know!). Don't think this is getting you out of a walk either...Just stay well back from me!!!
Enjoy the pics... we'll get back to London tomorrow!

Nice view down by the lake

Which way Gary?

Guess we're going that way then!

Sit there and wait until I get a sponge!
