Posh Birds in Winter Park

Just a short post today as I have Anne's washing and ironing to do...

Yesterday we went secret shopping. I can't post about it (its not allowed), I'll leave it up to Anne to fill you in..but I will just say that I did end up with a touch of food poisoning (so I won't be rushing back) and very weak cocktails were $8.59 eeek!

Afterwards Anne demanded we went somewhere posh as apparently I've been taking her to some really low rent venues...

I suggested Winter Park. Founded as a resort destination by wealthy New England industrialists before the turn of the 20th century it is recognized as the first centrally planned community in Florida; its main street includes not only public civic buildings and retail, but also art galleries, a private liberal arts college, museums, a park, a train station, a golf course country club, a historic cemetery, and a beach and boat launch. Winter Park is celebrated for a sense of place and history, uncommon to many parts of Central Florida. Many structures are more than 100 years old (which is old for over here, but considering the town where I used to live was founded in 400 BC its not really that old!) The scenic Olde Winter Park area is punctuated by small, winding brick streets, and a canopy of old Southern Live Oak and Camphor trees, draped with Spanish Moss. The city draws thousands of visitors to annual festivals including the Bach Festival, the nationally ranked Sidewalk Art Festival, and the Winter Park Concours d'Elegance.
Spanish moss draped trees...

They have this mission statement on their website..

Posh I say...

Anyway it was a bit of a cheat for me, as if you remember I went with my Mom too, so I'm getting to know my way around...

It is beautiful, there is no doubt about that...

Gorgeous hanging baskets

Cafe culture... not something you get much of in Orlando

As we sat with a cool glass of wine in one of the aforementioned cafes I noticed something. We really didn't fit in...

As I looked around I realized we were surrounded by thin blond women who survive on cigarettes and cocktails...

OMG we'd ended up in some sort of Cougar episode...

'Anne ..we need to go... it might be catching'

'Why.. I think we fit right in...'

Anne trying to fit in with the Cougars...

Speak for yourself Anne, speak for yourself!

......next thing she'll be marrying a toy boy!!!!!
